Gig timeline that I’ve seen

Here’s a wip page on gigs I’ve seen through my life. Likely I’ll never finish it, but hopefully it will help my shocking memory. I do keep tickets of more or less any gig I go to so this could be easy… Well if I remember where they are!

The first time I heard the Pixies was Bone Machine whilst picking up a hitchhiker at the start of the M1 after having been to London to see a gig (I forget who).

1985

The Dammed – Nostell Priory

1986

U2 – The Longest Day festival at Milton Keynes Bowl

Billy Bragg supported them (along with REM and a few others). The rain was atrocious and Billy’s equipment failed. He sang the first few verses of his first song to nobody. He then said “Can you now hear me” The crowd responded with “No!”. he retorted “Why did you not fucking tell me then!”. The joker!

1987

U2 at Elland Road

The Fall were brought in to replace a cancellation (not sure who).

1990

Steve Earle and the Dukes, Leeds Irish Centre.

Somewhere about 97. When Copperhead road was released.

He said “…I hope you do not go to war because the IUS does not want to pay the same amoutn for GAS as you do in the UK”.

Finished with chucking drum sticks or plectruminto audience.
